It’s almost like luring a cat with milk and then once it gets into your trap, you give it something else entirely. Lay it all on the table. Nothing can be covered forever. It will be worse if they get to hear it from a third party, especially the ones with wrong intentions. Your spouse won’t believe your second version from what they have been told by a third party since you hid it in the first place.
