“God intended sex as a gift to humanity within a committed marriage.” – Graemme Marshall

In our milieu, the subject matter of sex is one that is always discussed hush-hush. It seems there is an unwritten code that talking about sex openly to age appropriate audience is a taboo. Even in religious settings, sex is always talked about when referring to sexual sins of fornications amongst people yet to be married, and adultery amongst married folks. The circumstances in which sex is talked about makes it look like something that should not pass through the lips of pious people. It is painted or it has been painted as something dirty.

SEX IS NOT DIRTY. IT IS GOD’S DIVINE GIFT TO THE MARRIED. God is the brain behind sex, not the devil. The devil only made a counterfeit by bringing up fornication, adultery and other sexual sins. Sex in its essence and for the purpose it was created is as pure as pure can be. Sex is a wonderful experience designed by God between husband and wife to provide physical, emotional and spiritual bonding for the couple.

When couples see sex as God’s gift to each other, they will not act in selfishness, and of the abundance God has given them, they give to their spouse without holding back. They seek the pleasure of their spouse above theirs. They do everything within their means to see that God’s gift (sex) is treasured in their union. And when everyone sees sex as something not dirty, there will be more openness to talk about it to the appropriate audience where and when necessary.

“The husband should fulfill his wife’s sexual needs, and the wife should fulfill her husband’s sexual needs. The wife gives authority over her body to her husband, and the husband gives authority over his body to his wife. Do not deprive each other of sexual relations, unless you both agree to refrain from sexual intimacy for a limited time so you can give yourselves more completely to prayer…” 1 Corinthians 7: 3-5 (NLT).
